Winner of the NAHB's Pillars of the Industry Award for Best Luxury Apartments, Aylesbury Farms was designed to blend with the low-density, high brow environment of the northern Atlanta suburbs. A cluster approach was used when designing the community, resulting in grouped buildings in mini neighborhoods along a central, tree-lined parkway that arcs through the 34 acre site. The clustering also enabled the developers to leave six acres of old growth forest undisturbed in a natural ravine. Natural and landscaped areas are linked through a series of paved and unpaved trails. The property also features a large, free-form pool with dramatic waterfalls and boulders, tennis and volleyball courts, jogging exercise stations, picnic areas with grills and open recreation areas all linked with trails. The buildings contain large one, two and three bedroom homes designed to evoke the Old South through the use of large porches. The leasing office and activities center, housed in two dramatic "homes" with 16' ceilings, stone fireplaces and rich wood paneling, provide the transition between the surrounding single-family community and Aylesbury Farms.
